Full Moon Ritual

IMG_5085

Full Moon – A powerful opportunity to manifest your dreams & desires. A Full Moon when the moon is at its fullest and brightest brings a new cycle which can highlight that which is no longer serving you.  So with the aspect of clarity one can choose to ‘let go’ with love; that which is no longer working for you in your life.

With the Full Moon coming in on Friday, 22nd April – question : what are you preparing to manifest in your life? Can you put the ‘meat on the bones’ of your intentions that you set at New Moon on the 7th April? (If you didn’t set any new intentions – that is fine.  You get the chance every month at New Moon to set some intentions & goals and at Full Moon to fine tune and reap the benefits.  The two are in relationship with each other; which highlights that relationships are important in our lives too.

Full Moon Ritual

  • Create space for your ritual; for yourself to take some time out.

  • Light a candle

  • Take some healing deep breaths.

  • Tidy or create an alter where you gather items that mean something to you such as crystals, oracle cards, feathers, etc.,

  • Journal on what you feel you would like to release in your life.  Perhaps it is ways of being that are no longer serving you.  Perhaps it a person in your life that you have outgrown.

  • Close your eyes and see that which you are letting go of slip away.

  • Take Yoni Mudra.  Thumbs touch and index fingers touch and the other fingers are interlocked.  Bring the mudra down to your pelvis.  This brings balance between your creative and elimination processes.  Allowing you to focus on what is useful and valuable and let go of what is not.

  • Bless with love what it is you would like to let go of.

  • Do something healing (for me it might be a healing yoga practice).  Or it could be to sip some herbal tea.

  • Gather your crystals together to bathe and be cleansed in the full moonlight.

New Moon Intention Setting Love

I am seriously excited about the New Moon phase for February 2016!  In the UK this falls February 8th 2016 at 1440 in the sign of Aquarius.

Do you feel like you need a fresh start?  Well February’s New Moon is a time to re-focus on your goals and set intentions in a more wholistic and brighter way where we envision the bigger picture.

For those of you (like me) who may feel that there just wasn’t enough time in January to set intentions and connect with goal setting.  Well this New Moon in February is the ideal place to start.

New Moon

The New Moon has a powerful energy which you can use to set your intentions for your dreams, desires and goals.  Use her energy to support you.  The dark side of the moon is mysterious and just like how ideas, seedlings and a baby grows and gestates in the dark, so to do your ideas, dreams and goals before they come forth into manifestation.

It’s a time when we can re-connect, re-fresh and re-establish our goals and dreams.

New Moon Ritual

It’s good to set aside some time each new moon phase to focus on your intentions and goals.

Remember, by working with this energy your wishes have more wings – and you might fly!

The energy is powerful, what you say you want you might just get.  So be careful what you wish for as the saying goes!  Be intentional about it.

  • Find a quiet space.

  • Light a candle or some inscence or burn some white sage to clear the space of any negative energy.  You can also use a feather or ring a bell to clear energy.

  • It’s good to start by taking a few breaths to center yourself and your energy.

  • Play some beautiful music

  • Writing your goals down always has more power.  Suggest you get a journal to keep note of your desires.

  • List all  your desires, they could be bigger things or small.  It’s great when we manifest the smaller things too.  Don’t forget to show appreciation when you receive the smaller things as well as the bigger things.  When we receive from the Universe it’s always good to show appreciation so that the Universe knows you have the capacity to receive more.

  • Don’t worry if you have a lot of goals or just one or two.  All is fine and perfect.

  • Speaking your goals out loud adds fuel.  Let your words be a catalyst to bring your desires from un-conscious to consciousnes.

  • Know that your desires WILL be manifested.  Get into the feeling place of having received your goal in advance of actually receiving it.

Each New Moon revisit your goals in your journal.  Cross off what you have achieved.  Re-write your goals that you have left on a new sheet of paper.  Refine your list too because your dreams and goals change as you do.

When it’s time for the Full Moon, then that is a cycle for manifestation.  This is when you can add ‘meat to the bones’ of your ideas and dreams.

What can you do right now to prepare for the upcoming moon phase to set or re-connect with your goals and dreams.  Set aside time and prepare using the ritual outlined above.

It’s a cycle – so you have time to perfect and refine for next time.

If you are coming to the New Moon Intention Setting Vinyasa Flow Yoga Workshop with me we will work through this together and I will prepare a container for our sacred space.

Share with me in the comments below what YOU do as a New Moon ritual.  What do you do to prepare for achieving and manifesting your goals?

Ayuveda, Cycles + Goal Planning for the New Year

I’ve just spent the most amazing 5 days enjoying Yoga and Ayuveda!  We worked a lot around cycles.  Cycles of the day, week, month year; and of course the cycle and phases of the Moon and the women’s cycle.

According to Ayurveda, if we consciously attune ourselves to these cycles in our daily lives we can be more in our feminine power; our natural ability to heal, nurture, nourish and intuit.

Ayuveda is all about bringing our doshas (biological energies found throughout the body and mind) into balance where possible.  The 3 main doshas are Kapha (Earth & Water); Pitta (Fire & Water) and Vata (Air & Space).  We are all born with a more dominant dosha and the doshas are effected by what we eat, think, feel and also the cycles of the year.

Was it synchronicity that the course ended on  the eve of a full moon?  I doubt it!

Each day, our practice was based on the seasons of the year.  However, our last practice was a gorgeous 2 hour Moon (Chandra) Vinyassa practice.  Lunar practices are often, cooling and nourishing – however, my teacher works with fire (Pitta) in everything she does – so it was always going to be a strong Vinyassa class but we ended with a sumptuous 20 minute Savasana!  (Yum!)

This brings me to goal writing.  It now makes perfect sense that you should align your goals with the phases of the moon.  This means that between now (after the last full moon of the year)  and the winter solstice on 21 December is the optimum time to release 2014 and prepare your goals for 2015 (as opposed to January 1st).  Because the light is decreasing each day culminating in the shortest day of the year at Winter Solstice. You get to let go and release during this time so that you don’t bring 2014 in with the New Year.

Guidelines for Writing Your Goals for the New Year

Have you started working on your goals for next year yet?.. I feel that working with the natural cycles of the planet will be big theme for me this year.  How about you?  See below for a really great way to prepare your goals for 2015 that I learned on the course:

  1. Treat yourself to a lovely new journal (oh what a shame you get to go stationery shopping)!
  2. Next start writing a list of what you are grateful and thankful for in 2014 – tip – make the list long – keep going even when you think your done!
  3. Next write your goals for 2015 – tip – make the list in present tense!  i.e. ‘I am living the most amazing life’

Have you started to plan your goals for 2015?  Any gorgeous, juicy ideas and goals lined up?  I would love to hear from you!  Share with me in the comments!

P.S.  Want to know what your primary and secondary Dosha is?  Best to see a qualified Ayuvedic practitioner.  However,  I’ve found an amazing tool on-line for you to do a Dosha Self -Test

P.P.S  If you do take the test, don’t forget to share with me what your Dosha is and how accurate you found the test.
